Digital Metadata Librarian, Full-time faculty

Required Degree: MLS from an ALA-accredited institution

OR

If the applicant does not have an MLS, a master's or doctoral degree in Archives and Records Administration (MARA), Archival Science, Public History, History with a certificate or emphasis in Archival Science or equivalent, or a related field is required.

Individuals without an MLS must complete the MLS degree within a specific period of time. They will be provided a minimum of 44 months from date of hire.

The required degree must be completed by the start date.

Experience:  

· Experience with cataloging, digital metadata, digital collections, or a related field in an academic environment preferred.

· Familiarity with protocols and methods for digital metadata aggregation, including Open Archives Initiatives Protocol for Metadata Harvesting (OAI_PMH) and applications protocol interfaces.

· Willingness and desire to work collaboratively and participate in committee service.

· The desire and ability to effectively mentor individual students, contributing to their education or work experience and helping build their spiritual strength.

· Knowledge and skills in applying cataloging and classification standards.

Duties/Expectations:

· Research, edit, evaluate, upgrade, and manipulate digital object metadata in library systems and databases with accuracy and attention to detail.

· Create, update, remediate, transform, import, and export metadata for digital objects and collections residing in various library systems and metadata repositories (e.g., ArchivesSpace, bepress Digital Commons, CONTENTdm, HathiTrust, Internet Archive, SirsiDynix Symphony, and OCLC Connexion)

· Coordinate and advise on the operations of the library's digital systems and repositories (e.g. ArchivesSpace, bepress Digital Commons, CONTENTdm, HathiTrust, and Internet Archive) to assure the uniform application of cataloging and metadata standards and policies.

· Demonstrate consistent production of high-quality scholarship products.
