Library Human Resources Manager

The Library is a great place if you love helping BYU students. With 150 non-student and nearly 500 student employees, you will have lots of opportunity to create programs and processes that positively impact work culture and employee growth. Of course you'll help our supervisors know and comply with HR law and BYU policies, but you'll also help create an environment where they can provide millions of scholarly materials like journals and books, dozens of helpful services including research help, and amazing spaces for students to study and collaborate. What you'll do in this position: 

  • Design and implement programs or processes that support the library's mission and strategic objectives and enhance the culture of engagement and job satisfaction for all employees
  • Work with library administration on organizational development and HR strategies
  • Work with employees and supervisors to improve work performance, growth, and environment
  • Provide high-level oversight and direction of library HR processes focused on staff, administrative, and student employees
  • Provide consultation and assistance in faculty hiring and employment processes

What qualifies you for this role:

Required

  • A firm commitment to the mission of BYU
  • Degree in Human Resource Management, Organizational Behavior, or related field and 5 years of progressive HR experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • In-depth knowledge of human resource strategies, practices, policies, and employment law
  • Ability to develop and implement strategic programs, processes, and initiatives that enhance organizational performance and individual employee development
  • Skill in dealing with employee relations issues and the desire and ability to mentor supervisors and employees

Preferred

  • Work experience in a higher education environment
  • PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP certification
  • Experience with Workday HRIS
