Job Description
Research & Writing Center Library Services Manager
Brigham Young University (BYU) is seeking a collaborative, detail-oriented professional to join our Research and Writing Center (RWC) as a Library Services Manager. In this role, you’ll play a key part in supporting students' academic success by overseeing research consultation services, training peer tutors, and fostering an excellent customer experience at the RWC Help Desk.
What You’ll Be Doing in This Position:
🔹 Lead and Manage RWC Services
- Oversee day-to-day operations of research consultations, the help desk, and reception
- Hire, train, mentor, and evaluate student research consultants and help desk staff
- Coordinate closely with Writing Center administrators on shared operations and trainings
- Promote RWC services across campus and ensure excellent student support
🔹 Teach and Support Information Literacy
- Serve as a guest lecturer for First-Year and Advanced Writing classes
- Develop engaging lesson plans aligned with learning outcomes
- Mentor future library instructors and support pedagogical excellence
🔹 Grow Professionally
- Stay current with trends in research instruction, peer tutoring, and library services
- Participate in committees, trainings, and professional development activities
- Contribute ideas that improve technology use and library services on campus
What Qualifies You for This Role:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent combination of education + 2 years library-related experience)
- 1+ year of supervisory experience
- 1+ year of teaching or training experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with academic libraries and student supervision
- Background in instructional design
- Strong academic research skills
Required Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organization and attention to detail
- Ability to manage and train student employees
- Calm under pressure and great with people

Pay Grade: 50
Typical Starting Pay: $24.50-$31.75
