BYU Library Human Resources

Safety

Library employees are responsible for their own safety. They are also responsible for their co-workers’ safety. In order to help keep the library safe and fulfill this obligation to co-workers, employees are under a duty to report safety hazards to their supervisors.

Employees are expected to be aware of the Libary’s inherent hazards, emergency procedures, and safe work practices. Statistics indicate that the most common work-related injuries at Brigham Young University are related to or include one of the following accidents:

  • Tripping
  • Falling
  • Cuts
  • Bruises
  • Back injuries due to improper lifting

Employees should use care and caution while performing their work duties. Any injury occurring at work needs to be reported within 24 hours to the employee’s supervisor who will then fill out an Accident Report Form and submit it to Risk Management immediately. The University’s Student Health Center is the authorized care provider.
